What a portrait of three pets has to get right

Scale, mostly. Three animals of wildly different sizes — a golden retriever, a persian cat and a beagle — have to sit together without the big one dominating or the small one looking like an afterthought. The row is arranged so the eye lines are close to level and the sizes stay honest to life, which is why the middle position usually goes to the smallest animal.
